Designing a cross-platform, accessory-first experience that integrates seamlessly with Toyota’s ecosystem

Project Overview
Making it easier to shop for Toyota accessories—without stepping into a dealership
Toyota aimed to reimagine its Accessories page by transforming it into a dynamic, search-forward experience. The existing experience was static and outdated, lacking the interactivity and visual clarity that modern users expect.
As the lead designer, I was responsible for crafting an end-to-end solution that brought clarity to complex information, introduced intuitive product discovery, and aligned with Toyota’s evolving digital design standards.

The Challenge
Designing for scale, variety, and search precision. With a broad lineup of vehicles and a wide range of accessories per model, we needed to strike a balance between product depth and usability.
Search Tool Complexity: Each vehicle had a unique accessory set. For longer lists, filters and pagination were critical to manage content without overwhelming the user.
Content Overload: Dense information required thoughtful hierarchy and UI design.
Visual Engagement: Vehicle visuals had to be integrated into the search experience to make browsing more contextual and appealing.
Strategy & Approach
From static and dated to dynamic and discoverable. I structured the redesign around clarity, usability, and brand consistency. My responsibilities spanned research, wireframes, and high-fidelity design.
Conducted competitive audits to benchmark leading e-commerce and automotive experiences
Developed user journeys and wireframes to simplify decision-making flows
Introduced a video gallery to showcase accessories in real-world use
Designed a modular search tool system tailored to different sections of the page
Designing the Search Experience
Three custom tools, one seamless flow. To support different content types and user journeys, I designed three variations of the accessory search tool—each embedded strategically throughout the page.
Each tool supported vehicle-specific filtering, with some offering additional category-level refinements
Designed collapsible panels and paginated results to reduce visual fatigue for longer lists
Focused on clear micro interactions to guide user behavior intuitively
Visual Design & Interaction
Consistency across platforms. The final design system emphasized simplicity, responsiveness, and cross-platform harmony.
Built a responsive UI that translated seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Ensured all interaction elements followed Toyota’s updated digital design system
Created a visual hierarchy that made browsing accessories feel intuitive and purposeful

Outcomes
A scalable, self-serve accessories hub for Toyota shoppers
The redesigned Accessories experience transformed a static product catalog into a user-centric destination. With custom search tools, responsive design, and interactive visuals, it now supports exploration, comparison, and engagement—all without the need for dealership visits.
